Hi, my name is Olivia Loria, I'm the marketing co-ordinator at Big4 Valley Vineyard Tourist Park.

Here I have put together a weekend planner for you, to help you maximise your time spent here in the Hunter Valley.

I have included some of what I believe are the best attractions, restaurants and wineries in our region and hope you thoroughly enjoy your break.

romantic weekend family weekend singles weekend

day 1

  • hop on the Rovers Wine Tour - leaves from outside reception most mornings at 9.20am. Visit about 6 wineries, the Cheese Factory and Chocolate Shop. Stop for lunch (at your expense). You will arrive back at about 4.30pm

  • have a romantic dinner at any of the numerous fine dining restaurants. Our recommendations are: Leaves and Fishes, Amanda's on the Edge, Esca Bimbadgen and Muse Restaurant

day 2

  • have a day spa treatment at The Golden Door Spa at Elysia, or Chateau Elan at the Village or

  • a game of golf at one of the numerous championship courses in the region or

  • visit Hunter Valley Gardens, then enjoy lunch at Briar Grillade

day 1

  • self drive to Mt View Wineries, stop in at 1 Cellar Door, enjoy the view up to Bimbadeen lookout

  • travel back down the mountain and head towards Pokolbin, the heart of the Hunter Valley

  • stop in at Drayton Winery as there is plenty of room for the lads to run around

  • head for Hunter Valley Gardens, where there is plenty of lunch options available, ie, restaurants, cafes, take-away, picnic spots ... and most importantly, a large playground and aqua golf for the kids

  • a walk around the Gardens is a must! The kids will love the Story Book Gardens and you will easily spend a few relaxing hours wandering these magical gardens (don't forget to purchase your tickets at reception)

  • after a full day, head back to Big 4 Valley Vineyard Tourist Park for a lovely meal in our onsite BYO Thai Restaurant where kids meals are catered for too.

day 2

  • be pleasantly surprised how up close and personal you can be with the animals at Hunter Valley Zoo. A small, intimate, professionally run zoo with animals such as monkeys, reptiles, kangaroos, farm animals, koalas, emus, deer and alligators, just to name a few. Take your own picnic or BBQ hamper

  • suggestion for all mums - get dad to supervise the kids in the playground or pool, while you have a well deserved and leisurely look around the shops and galleries at the Hunter Valley Gardens Shopping Village

  • back to VVTP for a BBQ dinner and maybe a soak in our heated spa

day 1

  • enjoy a wine tasting day tour with Rovers, which pick up right outside reception most days at 9.20am. They will take you to about 6 wineries for free tastings, a visit to the Cheese Factory and Chocolate Shop and stops somewhere for lunch at your own expense. This is a great relaxed yet fun day out and a good introduction to the Valley. Rovers drops you back at reception about 5pm

  • a meal at Harrigan's Irish Pub is a must for visitors on a Saturday night, with live entertainment most Saturdays and Sundays 

day 2

  • a day at Hunter Valley Gardens is always fun with a game of aqua golf for the boys and girls will love browsing the specialty stores in the shopping village

  • plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from for lunch, or

  • for the more adventurous, there's sky diving at Cessnock Airport and hot air ballooning as well
